The trip

Ten days is the right length for Italy: long enough to slow down in the south, short enough to fit in one block of leave. We travel by train between cities so you never sit in traffic on the coast road.

Day by day

  1. Days 1-3

    Rome

    The Colosseum before the crowds, Trastevere by night, and a morning in the Vatican Museums.

  2. Day 4

    Naples and Pompeii

    Fast train south, then an afternoon in Pompeii with an archaeologist who digs there.

  3. Days 5-8

    Amalfi Coast

    Base yourself in Positano. Walk the Path of the Gods, take the boat to Capri and cook lunch in Sorrento.

  4. Days 9-10

    Back to Rome

    A final night in Rome and a transfer to Fiumicino.
